Recently I bought some lovely olive wood with the intention of making egg cups. Since my only experience with olive wood is pen making I thought it would be best to make something else with the leftover part.
The wood is quite soft, so turning it was a breeze and as an extra it spreads a lovely smell when you’re sanding it. I started work without a specific design in mind and the piece quickly started to resemble a bottle. So with a few tweaks it turned (no pun intended) into a genie bottle.
Some sanding up to 600 grit and a few coats of doctor’s workshop microcrystal wax bowl finish and the bottle stopper was finished.
